Strengthening the Heart: A Whole-Body Approach to Cardiovascular Health

Dr. Brian Klepzig

Despite decades of research, medications, and interventions, heart disease is still the number one cause of death in the United States. That statistic hasn’t budged much—and it tells us something important: we may be focusing too much on isolated parts of the problem, rather than addressing the full picture

At Klepzig Natural Healing Clinic, I take a whole-body approach to cardiovascular health. That means I don’t just look at your blood pressure or cholesterol. I look at the heart muscle, the rhythm that drives it, and the circulation system that feeds it—and how all of those interact with the rest of your body. Let’s break it down.

🫀 The Three-Part System of Your Heart

🧱 1. The Muscle

This is the pumping part. When the heart muscle weakens—whether due to long-term nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress, or blood sugar instability—you may start to feel shortness of breath, fatigue, or swelling in the legs. I see these cases often.

When that muscle is under stress, I’ll evaluate the rest of the system to understand why. Are your kidneys pulling energy from your heart? Is your liver congested and causing pressure downstream? We start by identifying the weakest link and build from there.

⚡ 2. The Electrical System

This is the heart’s timing circuit. It keeps the chambers contracting and relaxing in a coordinated rhythm. When the electrical system becomes unstable, you may feel fluttering, skipped beats, or what we call arrhythmias.

In my experience, electrical instability is usually a mineral or stress issue. Magnesium, potassium, and B vitamins are critical here. But there’s another nutrient I pay close attention to: organic copper. Copper plays a role in red blood cell formation and oxygen transport, both of which affect electrical flow. I often see improvements in patients once this is addressed.

🔄 3. The Vascular System

This is your plumbing—your arteries and veins. When those vessels become inflamed or damaged, your body tries to protect you. It uses cholesterol as a patch, not a poison. Then it seals the area with calcium. Eventually, if we don’t address the inflammation, this patchwork builds up and narrows the vessel.

Even a small imbalance in one of these can throw the whole system off.

In many cases, the real issue isn’t the symptom—it’s that the body doesn’t have the nutrients it needs to make a proper repair. My role is to help supply what’s missing so the body can restore itself naturally, not just mask the damage. – Dr. Brian Klepzig

Here’s the kicker: many symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, or poor sleep might actually be rooted in subtle cardiovascular dysfunction. I assess your entire system—organ by organ, circuit by circuit—to find the real priority. It’s detective work at its best.

The goal? Restore cardiovascular efficiency and vital balance, which unlocks more energy, better sleep, and the vitality your heart (and your life) deserves.

Testing Is Valuable—But It’s Not the Whole Story

I welcome all lab testing that my patients may have available from their cardiologist or any other physicians they’ve seen. These are helpful tools that give me information about what’s going on in your system. But by the time these tests show a problem, it’s often been building for years.

That’s why I also use energy medicine. This allows me to evaluate systems functionally—even when conventional labs still appear “normal.” I can identify the organ systems under the most stress, and how that stress is being compensated for across the body. It gives me a deeper layer of information that lets me ask: Why is this happening? Not just What is happening?

🌿 My Go-To Cardiovascular Support Tools

And yes—nutritional support matters. I often turn to targeted whole food supplements (like those from Standard Process & MediHerb) to support tissue repair and balance, from helping tone the heart muscle to calming the electrical rhythm. These are the products I turn to regularly for foundational support. I tailor each plan to the individual, but these form the core of many protocols:

Hawthorn (MediHerb)

An herb that supports vascular integrity and circulatory strength.

  • Promotes healthy blood pressure already within a normal range
  • Enhances coronary artery blood flow
  • Helps maintain healthy heart muscle tone
  • Supports a calm heart rhythm during times of stress
  • Improves peripheral circulation and oxygen delivery
  • Provides antioxidant protection for blood vessel walls

Cataplex B-Core® (Standard Process)

Supports nerve conduction, blood flow, and adrenal balance.

Cataplex-B-Core
  • Supports heart rhythm and nerve function
  • Helps the body manage stress by nourishing the adrenal glands
  • Aids in metabolism of carbohydrates for steady energy
  • Promotes emotional resilience and calm
  • Supports circulation and vascular tone
  • A go-to when I see fatigue, anxiety, or tension that impacts the cardiovascular system

Cardiotrophin PMG® (Standard Process)

Provides targeted support to heart tissue for those with structural concerns.

Cardiotrophin-PMG
  • Delivers bovine heart extract to support cardiac tissue health
  • Helps normalize function in weakened or stressed heart muscle
  • Supports the body’s natural tissue repair mechanisms
  • Ideal for long-standing heart burden or fatigue
  • Supports organ specificity—nourishes the heart directly
  • Works well in layered protocols to stabilize foundational function

Cardio-Plus® (Standard Process)

A comprehensive blend that supports all three heart systems: muscle, rhythm, and circulation.

  • Supports coronary circulation and cardiac workload
  • Helps maintain a healthy heart muscle response to stress
  • Aids in blood pressure regulation already within normal range
  • Contains heart-supportive nutrients including vitamin B4 complex
  • Enhances tissue oxygenation and nutrient delivery
  • Strengthens the cardiovascular system during periods of physical or emotional strain

 What Contributes to Heart Stress?

  • Nutritional deficiencies (especially B vitamins, magnesium, copper)
  • Unresolved emotional stress, which can overwhelm the nervous system and stagnate energy
  • Blood sugar instability, which stresses the vascular system
  • Liver congestion, which affects detoxification and circulation
  • Poor sleep, which prevents recovery and balance
  • Hidden infections or chronic inflammation, which place a constant burden on the immune system

🧬 Your Heart Doesn’t Work Alone

The cardiovascular system doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s constantly interacting with your:

  • Liver – If the liver is congested, blood flow slows, and toxins build up in circulation.
  • Adrenal glands – Chronic stress drains the adrenals, which in turn destabilizes heart rhythm and blood pressure.
  • Digestive system – Without proper absorption of minerals and nutrients, the heart doesn’t get the tools it needs to function.
  • Emotions – In Chinese medicine, the liver stores unresolved anger and frustration. That stagnation often shows up in heart symptoms—especially during seasonal transitions like spring.

If you’ve ever noticed symptoms like joint pain or mood changes during a season change, that’s part of this process. Energy shifts through the organ systems, and if one is depleted—like the liver—it can pull energy from another—like the heart.

So you can see how these different systems all have to work together. And I’m just barely scratching the surface of the possibilities that can go wrong and allow the system to get out of balance. But ultimately, your heart starts to fail you when these systems don’t all work together.

That’s why I use energy medicine techniques to test at a functional level and identify which systems are involved. From there, I prioritize the steps we need to take to get your heart stronger, restore vitality, and support long-term resilience.

Healing Takes Time. But It’s Worth It.

Most people don’t come into my clinic because they feel great. They come in because something isn’t right—and no one’s been able to explain it. They’ve been told their labs are “fine,” or that they just need to take this pill forever.

In today’s world of one-click fixes and fast results, it’s easy to forget that the body heals in seasons—not seconds. True healing isn’t about masking symptoms or hitting numbers on a lab report. It’s about retraining your body to function the way it was designed to, from the inside out.

At Klepzig Natural Healing Clinic, I use a layered approach that considers your history, your environment, your stress, and your nutrition. Sometimes we’re untangling a single strand of dysfunction; other times, it’s a ball of tightly wound string. Either way, we untangle it together—with protocols that evolve as your body responds.

I believe your body wants to heal—it just needs support, clarity, and time.

If you’re ready to stop chasing symptoms and start getting answers, I’d love to help. My job is to help you strengthen your body’s natural resilience, not just react to breakdown.
