Finding Balance: A Holistic Approach to Healing by Dr. Klepzig

In this blog post, I want to discuss a concept that is central to my approach to medicine: balance. Just like a well-functioning machine, the human body needs to be in a state of balance to function at its optimal level. When someone comes to me for help, I see them as a swirling storm of energy, and my goal is to slow it all down and assess the situation. At Klepzig Natural Healing Clinic, we focus on optimizing your health and vitality.

The Body as a Battery

Imagine every organ in the human body as a large battery that holds a charge, that’s how Chinese medicine views it. My first area of focus is on the core organs: the heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs. I assess their status and use that information as a foundation for moving forward.

Identifying the Weakest Link

The key is to identify the weakest link in the chain, the organ that’s most out of balance. By strengthening this weak organ, I can bring the entire system back into balance. Sometimes, this means letting the body adjust to this newfound balance for a few weeks before diving deeper.

Treating the Root and the Branch

Once we’ve established a baseline balance, we can address more specific issues. This could be a diagnosed disease or a collection of symptoms. The important thing is to find the root cause of the problem, not just treat the symptoms themselves. In Chinese medicine, we call this treating the root and the branch. The root is the cause of the problem, and the branches are the symptoms.

Beyond Headaches: A Holistic View

Of course, some patients come in with a very specific set of symptoms that they want addressed. For example, someone might be experiencing headaches and have no idea why I would focus on their liver. Here’s the thing: in Chinese medicine, the liver has a much broader range of functions than it does in Western medicine. When the liver is sluggish or congested, it can manifest in headaches, eye problems, and a variety of other seemingly unrelated issues.

The key to understanding this is to see the body as a holistic system. Everything is connected. By treating the root cause of the problem in the liver, we can alleviate the headaches, even though they seem like separate issues.

Traditional and Holistic Medicine: Working Together

Some patients come to me because they are skeptical of traditional Western medicine and its reliance on pharmaceuticals. Let me be clear: I am not here to replace traditional medicine. I view pharmaceuticals as a crutch. If you have a broken leg, you need a crutch until you heal. The medication is there to provide support while we address the underlying cause of the problem. The goal is to get you healthy enough to reduce or eliminate your reliance on medication.

Finding balance is key to optimal health. By combining traditional and holistic techniques, we can address the root cause of the problem and promote true healing. Let’s see what we can accomplish together!
